I'm guessing all of you know that Valentine's Day was last week. But did you know that there's one more very important holiday that takes place around this time? If you watch Parks and Recreation, then you probably do. I'll let Leslie Knope take it from here:
"February 14th, Valentine's Day, is about romance. But February 13th, Galentine's Day, is about celebrating lady friends. It's wonderful and it should be a National Holiday."So my friends and I had our annual Galentine's Day celebration this weekend. It was an amazing day full of breakfast food, makeup, puppies, shopping, gifts, and of course: ladies celebrating ladies.
The day started off with a trip to One Eyed Betty's in Ferndale, where we enjoyed some biscuits and gravy along with beermosas (delicious). Then we went to Brazen Cosmetics, this really cute independent makeup company, also in Ferndale. We had a private makeup party where we got to sample all of these really great products and we ALL made purchases at the end of the day. Then we stopped by the Rust Belt Market and a few people bought some vintage/handmade goodies. And finally, we headed back to our friends' apartment to exchange gifts and valentines (galentines) and we even had a huge clothing/accessories swap. I have an insane amount of new clothes now.
Basically, I just wanted to write a post about how great my friends are and how incredibly fun this day was. If you don't already, you should definitely plan an annual Galentine's Day celebration with your lady friends. It's wonderful and it should be a national holiday.
