Cool Stuff of the Week

I hate writing intros to these posts. Here's your weekly dose of cool stuff:

I seriously need to get my hands on some of these amazingly well-designed wine bottles made for Labelle Family Wine Company.

I'm so inspired by vintage advertising right now. {12, 3}

These paint-dipped chopsticks from Penelope and Pip are so stinkin' cool. Now I just need to learn how to eat with chopsticks...

And who doesn't love cute miniatures?? These little cacti from MuffaMiniatures may be the actual cutest.

I just got back from a fun week at the lake with my best friends, where we adorned ourselves with some pretty ridiculous temporary tattoos. But these temporary tattoos from Tattly are actually really beautiful.

Other cool things happening this week: I wrote a post about what to do in the summer instead of being boring for Thought Pizza // I'm so excited to go to the midnight showing of The Amazing Spiderman this week! Anyone else going? // As I type this, I'm getting ready to head to a 90's party dressed as Daria. I can't wait to do the Macarena all night long.

I hope you're all having a great week!

Snapshots

I meant to do a photo-an-hour post, but I'm actually really bad at remembering to take a photo every hour during the day. So these are just some random photos taken over the last few days, showing some of the things I've been up to, if anyone cares...

My bed is possibly my favorite place in the world. Waking up is really hard sometimes.

I've been trying to do yoga first thing in the morning at least four days a week. Even if it's just a few sun salutations, it helps me feel relaxed and ready for the day.

Oatmeal and green tea is my breakfast of choice at the moment. I know you're really jealous of my Spiderman mug.

I started a little windowsill herb garden recently. I have basil, mint, parsley, and a few others. They've sprouted now, and I can't wait until it's time to use them.

My closet is so disorganized, but I still love how colorful it is, and I really like mixing and matching pieces for new outfits every day.

I'm working on some hand-painted wooden pendants for the shop. These have flowers on them now and they turned out really cute.

I'm a zombie by about 2pm without my afternoon coffee break. My Keurig is my absolute favorite thing in my kitchen.

I have so many cute vintage dresses that I'm working on photographing so I can list them soon. I'm sad to see some of them go, but I really need to downsize my closet.

I'm constantly working on craft projects to decorate my apartment lately. This is going to be a little rug made out of old t-shirts.

And I love ending my days with a glass of wine, a chocolate chip muffin, and writing down goals and ideas.

What are some of your favorite things about your daily routine?

The Lake

Last week, I headed out to my friend's lake house for my favorite vacation of the year. A bunch of us hang out there for a long weekend. There's no cable and limited internet, so it's so awesome to just unplug and spend time with my best friends. We swam in the lake, had dance parties, and hung out in sumo suits. It was the best time.

I just love all my friends and I love summer and I can't wait to go again. So that's why it's been a little quiet around this blog lately. I hope you're all having a great summer too!

June Sponsors

Happy summer! It's almost July, so I am now accepting new blog sponsors. I've decided to accept pay-what-you-can advertisements, meaning you can pay anywhere from $1 to $20 for a whole month of sponsorship. I've always loved discovering and supporting small businesses, and I realize that everyone has different needs and budgets. As always, this sponsorship gets you a space on the sidebar as well as inclusion in this sponsor post and an optional giveaway/coupon code. More information on sponsorship can be found here. Email me at wattlebirddesigns at gmail dot com if interested!

And be sure to check out my wonderful June sponsors!

Cool Stuff of the Week

I'm always on the virtual prowl for cool craft, fashion, and designy things. So I'm starting a new feature here on the blog so I can share with you cool stuff made by other people. I'm giving it the snazzy title "cool stuff of the week," obviously.

I'm in love with these DIY surprise confetti lanterns from Oh Happy Day.

This DIY snow cone garland from Creature Comforts is perfect for summer parties.

I'm in the process of starting my own herb garden, so I'm really loving this hanging basket garden tutorial from A Beautiful Mess and these DIY popsicle stick garden markers from Oh So Lovely Vintage.

And these pop up gardens from Color Me Katie might be the actual cutest.

My new favorite app is this Lisa Frank Pic n Share, which adds Lisa Frank sparkly purple animal stickers and frames to your photos. I know all you 90's ladies will appreciate this!

I love a great bargain as much as the next person, but I've been leaning more and more away from "fast fashion" chains lately in favor of vintage and handmade clothing. This article from The Huffington Post makes a lot of great points about these chains and the quality of clothing that is sold today.

Alsooooo, my friends and I launched a new site this week, called Thought Pizza. Some links that might be of interest to readers of this blog include: DIY Pizza Pillow, Summer Fashion Tips, Handmade iPad Accessories, and Tips for Working from Home

And last but certainly not least, I literally cried due to cute overload when I saw this video of a pig going down the stairs and landing in a bowl of oatmeal. If you haven't already seen it, I can't emphasize enough what a great life decision clicking this link will be.
