Handmade Bow and Arrows

As promised, I'm back with another Hunger Games DIY project. My friend Jordan is super creative and really into costume-making. For the Hunger Games, she went as Glimmer, the female tribute from District 1 who is often seen around the arena with the bow and set of arrows that Katniss really wants. But instead of going out and buying a toy bow and arrow set, Jordan gathered some cardboard, popsicle sticks, wire, tape, and feathers and made her own. I was seriously amazed.

The arrows were made out of popsicle sticks and then cardboard for the triangle tips. She used a couple of wrapping paper rolls for the arrow holder. And she used a paper towel roll and wire hangers to fashion the bow. She then covered them all with masking tape to keep the pieces in place, then shiny duct tape. She added feathers to the tail ends of each arrow, secured the arrow holder around her shoulder with some braided yarn, and made the bow string out of some ribbon. It looked so good at the premiere!
