4 Silly Questions with The Chatty Mommy

This week's silly interviewee is the Chatty Mommy, who runs a blog and an Etsy shop. She has some pretty interesting thoughts on celebrities, and we enjoy the same type of pasta. Awesome! Let's learn more about her:

Which is better, Legos or Tinkertoys? Legos- all the way!  I googled last year what the best Christmas presents to get for kids and the number one answer was legos!  They are good for any age even adults and last a long time.

What is your favorite shaped pasta noodle? My favorite shaped noodle is bowties!!!  I just love them in anything- the only problem- the husband doesn't eat them.  Which is probably ok, because I should be cutting down on the pasta.

Think of a funny, far-fetched tabloid headline that would catch your eye at the checkout line.  "Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Return to Missouri and Find Jesus"- maybe this isn't so much "funny", but far-fetched.  I think it is so interesting that someone as huge a star as Brad Pitt is from Missouri, one of the most Bible believing states in the US.  But, hey, it could happen....

What celebrity would you most like to have dinner with, and what would you talk about? This sounds so funny, but I would have to say...  Lindsay Lohan.  I always feel like I could help her and I would love to be her friend and give her a normal life and take her out of the craziness.  Do you think she is reading this?  Tell her to contact me if she is...  :)

So there you have it... Lindsey Lohan, if you're reading this, you can email me at wattlebirddesigns AT gmail DOT com and I'll arrange for you to have dinner with the Chatty Mommy. Anyone else, if you'd like to participate in 4 Silly Questions, you can also email me at the above address. Thanks so much to the Chatty Mommy for participating!

Inspiration Workshop: Perfect Bathroom

Yes, I do know what I'd like in a perfect bathroom, and it's probably quite similar to your idea of a perfect bathroom. When Gussy sent out the prompt for this week, my head went straight to a large, spa-like space with light blue walls, a jacuzzi tub, fluffy towels, heated floors, and all the luxurious features anyone could want.

Then I thought: That's probably what everyone wants. And while it's cool for us to all find similarities and common ground between us, I thought I could bring something a bit different to the table - a nerdy twist, if you will.

I couldn't settle on just one photo, because I think they're all hilarious and awesome. One day, I'll have multiple bathrooms to decorate so I can make one luxurious and one nerdy and awesome. How 'bout them apples? What's in your perfect bathroom?

Vintage Shopping and Facing Fears

This weekend, I went thrifting with friends and bought a couple of cute vintage dresses that I plan to sell in my vintage shop. This dress was one of them, but I thought I should try it out first, as it is one of my biggest outfit fears - a long skirt. It's not quite a maxi dress, but almost. And I've never thought I could pull off that look, so I wanted to see for myself. I also tend to shy away from dangly earrings, so this outfit was a real wardrobe triumph.

Other looks I'm "afraid of" but hope to try out sometime soon:

  • shorts with tights
  • knee-high socks
  • turban headbands
  • color blocking
  • large hair bows
  • patterned tights
  • denim jackets
  • blazers with casual outfits
Maybe they won't work out. Maybe they will. But it can't hurt to try, right?

Outfit Details:
Dress and Belt: Vintage
Shoes: Payless
Purse: Thrifted
Sunglasses: F21
Earrings: Gift from Thailand
Necklace: Handmade

Lately

Want to know what I've been up to lately? Here's a little rundown:

Sewing lots and lots of hats. I have a stockpile of hats from the winter/spring that are just begging for a little zing. I'm doing a massive shop overhaul in August to prepare for the fall/winter rush. Brace yourselves.

Drinking lots of coffee, hanging out with my dog, and being thankful everyday that Netflix instant exists (daytime tv, blech). I just finished watching Parks and Recreation, which was so awesome. Anyone have other favorite shows to watch on Netflix?

Wearing comfortable outfits perfect for getting a lot of work done. And wearing my hair curly, because I'm way too lazy to put any effort into it, and frankly, the humidity makes that natural curl tough to hide anyway.

Cardigan: F21

So what have you all been up to lately?

Pokemon Hat of the Week: Gastly

Woohoo!! It's time for my favorite feature again! This week is another super simple Pokemon hat - Gastly.

Here's what he looks like:

I think I got it pretty close (not much to get, really) but when you actually put on the hat he looks a little more sad than scary. Ah well. Next week: Bellsprout!

Weekend Update

I usually (somewhat) unplug during the weekend, and it's usually pretty boring (which is how I like it) but sometimes I do interesting stuff. So I figured I should start doing Weekend Update (yeah, stole it from SNL, wutuvit?) posts so that people know I kind of have a life sometimes (a really strange one) (((have I used enough parentheses in this paragraph so far???))) Here are some things I did:

Spent all of Saturday cruising around in my boyfriend's classic car. My city has an annual classic car cruise that takes place about two blocks from my house. My dad's workplace is on the road where the cruise takes place, so we hung out there, had a little party and took turns driving around in Luke's 1962 Buick Skylark. I don't know junk about cars, but it was fun. I love nostalgia and neat car designs/colors.

Had a Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Phillipe movie weekend. My friends and I come up with weird themes for movies sometimes, but Reese/Ryan is one of my favorite celeb couples. It broke my heart when they divorced (life is so hard, right?) So we watched Cruel Intentions, Antitrust, and Legally Blonde. Obviously some great gems there.

Katelyn, Jordan and I had a fairly successful thrifting trip. They were looking for supplies for their costumes for the premiere of the Deathly Hallows next month. My costume is pretty much done, but I just like thrifting. I bought some yarn and a bunch of dresses that will go in my vintage shop soon (If I don't decide to keep them). Oh, and we saw that High School Musical blanket in the picture at the dollar store. I didn't buy it because it was $7 and I can't buy anything at the dollar store that's more than $1 because it's against my morals and junk.

I think that's it. I have a new Pokemon hat that'll be posted in the morning, so you'll obviously want to come back and see that...

4 Silly Questions with A Taste of T

After a short hiatus, 4 silly questions is back! This week's interviewee is the very silly Tanya from A Taste of T. Tanya blogs about family and life as a new mom, and she has some interesting opinions about fictional villains and cheese. Let's see what she has to say!

Who do you think would win in a fight, Darth Vader or Lord Voldemort? And why?
Darth. He's just easier on the eyes. Plus he has that cool mask. This opinion would make sense if it was a fashion fight.

What type of mythical creature would you most like to have as a pet?
A unicorn. Wait, is Rainbow Bright an option?

What is your favorite type of cheese?
I love cheese. LOVE IT. My favorite is sharp cheddar but I dont want you to think my cheese taste buds are boring cause I went with cheddar. I like the exotics too..cheddar is just my go to. Like scrambled eggs. I like Benedict but am I going to eat that every day for breakfast  Of course not.

If you had to choose between going without sight for a year or never eating your favorite food again, which would you choose?
Food. I suddenly feel the need to eat said food in massive amounts just in case this scenario goes down.

Inspiration Workshop: Spend the day playing

For this week's Inspiration Workshop, Gussy asked what we would do if we could just spend the day playing. My mind immediately went straight to crafting, which might sound strange because I craft on work days too, but I just love it so much! But I also thought it would be fun to include some friends and outdoor time, so I came up with the concept of a crafty picnic!

I knew I couldn't have been the first one to think of this idea, and I was right! Last year, some bloggers in Florida got together for my dream of a crafternoon. It looks like so much fun! All of the following photos are from this blog post.

So now I really need to plan one of these! What's your idea of a perfect day?

A Pretty Dress and a Crab Leg

I'm going to start off this post by talking about normal things, like how much I'm seriously in love with this dress I bought from Danielle's shop my closet sale. And how the beginning of this day was really productive, full of work calls, writing and coffee.

Then I'll move on to the weirder stuff. Like how in the evening I went bowling with friends (In a strapless dress? Yup) Well, I didn't bowl, myself. I sat at the table and knit while some of my friends bowled. Yes, I knit at a cosmic bowling alley. I've previously been found knitting in bars, movie theaters, and plenty of other weird locations, so my friends were not at all surprised by this, but I did get some weird looks from other people.

Also, while we were there, one of my friends won this fish that is covered in dolla billz. We all took pictures with it, obviously. Then I took many pictures of it doing other things at the bowling alley, like bowling, eating, playing the claw game, and yes, knitting.

And when you thought it couldn't get any weirder, there was a crab leg just sitting out in the parking lot. I HAVE NO CLUE what it was doing there, but I took a picture of it anyway.

So that was my weird-ish day. How have you all been doing lately? I'd love to hear if you have any weird stories!
