Pokevore

You might already know that I'm kind of a nerd when it comes to Pokemon. You might also know that I like fashion. So you can imagine how excited/angry-that-I-didn't-think-of-it-first I was when I came across the Pokemon/fashion site Pokevore. It's a collection of Polyvore sets based on different Pokemon. I'm in nerd heaven.

6 Confessions

This feature has really been making its way around the blogosphere lately. I thought it looked fun, so here are some weird things that you never knew about me (try not to judge my weirdness too harshly):

I have an almost-unhealthy connection to fictional characters (Mainly those from Harry Potter and The Office)
No matter how foul a mood I might be in, watching Jim and Pam get married will always make me smile (and possibly cry tears of joy - remember, no judging). I'm pretty sure that when/if I ever get married I won't be as emotional as I was the first time I saw that episode.

I have weird tattoos
Including but not limited to a flying pig and a donkey. Don't ask me why - there is no real answer. I have no regrets, hahah.

I seriously hate toothpaste/toothbrush/mouthwash commercials
They always show animated close-ups of teeth with plaque buildup and I think it is so gross. No thanks.

I'm really weird about volume
When I watch TV or listen to music, the volume number always has to end in a 0,2,5, or 8. It's a source of endless frustration for my friends and family, because I'm always making them change the volume, but I think they should just remember it already.

I'm allergic to everything
I have A LOT of food allergies. I can't even eat at Thai or Middle Eastern restaurants, and I have to get very specific items at Chinese restaurants. The weirdest thing, though, is that I'm allergic to peanuts but I can eat peanut butter. No doctor has been able to explain to me how that is possible.

I'm terrified of clowns
When I was younger, I loved watching 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' on Nickelodeon, and there was an episode about a funhouse that seriously scarred me for life. Nothing scares me more than a grown man in creepy face paint.

So that's it. Do you have some weird confessions to share? Leave a comment with your link so I can read them :)

It's my birthday, and I'll have a sale if I want to

That's right, ladies, my birthday is this week (Wednesday, to be exact). And I'm celebrating by having a SALE all week and adding lots and lots and lots of new items throughout the week - more totes and purses, vintage jewelry, chalkboard accessories, shoes, belts, and even a few skirts. You can follow me on Twitter or like my shop on Facebook for updates on new products throughout the week.

Use the coupon code BDAYWEEK for 20% off your entire purchase (that includes blog sponsorships, which are still available for March). It would be so so so awesome if you guys would buy some stuff. I've really been wanting to sign up for Indie Biz 3.0 and I'll be able to justify it with a few extra sales this week ;)

I'll be having some more fun birthday goodness this week (not all so self-promoting, I promise). Fun, fun!

4 Silly Questions with Along for the Ride

Laura from Along for the Ride is this week's silly interviewee. You guys probably already know of her awesome blog and shop, but let's learn about her eating habits, Where's Waldo obsession, and gummy bear preference.

Do you have any weird food combinations you love? (i.e. dipping chocolate in ketchup, but maybe not that gross)
I love green peppers and peanut butter! And I'll pretty much dip anything in ranch dressing.

If you had a pet seal, what would its name be?
Eleanor. I don't know why, but it's the first thing that popped into my head and I just can't get it out. Elie for short. "Come see what Elie can balance on her nose this week?" Seems like a good fit.

What 3 books would you want to have with you on a deserted island?
What a tough question. I would take the bible. I'm constantly making excuses for why I don't have enough time to read the bible. If I'm stranded on a deserted island, though, I'd have all the time in the world. I'd bring Redeeming Love because I could read that book over and over again. And I'd bring a Where's Waldo book because those can keep me entered for hours on end. Yea, it's fun finding Waldo, but there's just so much else going on.

What is your favorite flavor (or color) of gummy bears?
Hands down, no questions asked, pineapple (that's what flavor the clear ones are, right?).

Thanks so much for participating, Laura! Anyone else interested in being interviewed can contact me at wattlebirddesigns (at) gmail (dot) com

Android Hat

I've been getting back into the hat-making game lately. Here's one of my favorites:

Yep, that's a little Android logo. I'm an iPhone girl, myself, but I hear Androids are pretty neat too. I'll have some more nerdy hats coming up soon.

An Outfit: Feathers and Lace

This is my first-ever outfit post. I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet - I REALLY hate pictures of just myself (awkward, much?), but I do like fashion and I do like creating interesting outfits. So I figured I had to do at least one, to give you guys an idea of how I usually dress. So here it is:

This photo obviously wasn't supposed to turn out like this, but I thought it looked pretty neat.

I hardly ever wear jeans. I actually only own two pairs, and they don't fit very well anymore. So I basically live in dresses and tights and leggings. And I always wear boots in the winter and flats in the summer.

My hair is pretty neglected. I don't like dealing with it so I usually put it in a french braid or a high ponytail. And I live in post earrings and simple necklaces.

In this outfit:

Dress: Belle Du Jour ~ Cardigan & Earrings: F21 ~ Tights: Target ~ Boots: Vintage

***

So the verdict is: I'll probably do this again, but not very often. I think it'll turn out better when I can go outside - I decided it was too cold for it just yet (wimp). I'm linking this up with The Pleated Poppy for WIWW. Looking through all of the other bloggers doing these posts might give me the inspiration to keep going!

Cute Vintage Ladies

How unbelievably adorable are these little felt brooches from Yali Paz?! I'm in love with the vintage-inspired ladies.

I decided that the last one is me and I must have it one day! Seriously, go to her shop and try to find your favorite. I guarantee it won't be a short trip.

A New Friend

I got the cutest little amigurumi doll in the mail today from Rowan of Out of the Frame. It was part of the Strumpets Crumpets Valentine's Day Craft Swap, but Rowan and I live in different countries, so we had to allow a few extra days to receive our goodies.

Anywho, this little lady arrived on my doorstep today, wearing pretty much the same outfit as I was. I thought it was so funny, I had to snap a few photos!

Have a great weekend, friends!

New Shop + Blogiversary!

As you may or may not know, I recently celebrated my 1-year blogiversary AND opened a brand new shop. Unfortunately, I was very busy that week with some family-related things so I didn't have much time for blogging or shop work. So anyway, here's my really awesome blogiversary/new shop celebration blog post!

***

My new shop, wattlebird.com is now open! I'm selling a much larger variety of items, from vintage jewelry to knit accessories, and even some detash supplies. I still have sooooo much more to add, so please stop by and have a look around! My etsy shop will remain open, but I am going to focus on the new shop a bit more.

And, since it's my blogiversary, I figured I'd take a look back at some of my posts from the last year.

And have a look at some of my previous blog banners:

It's been so much fun blogging and getting to know many of you!

    Tattoo Inspiration with Punkscrapper

Hello, my name is Julie Goodrow (author of the blog Punkscrapper and Punkscrapper's shop on etsy) and Im excited and honored to be guest blogging for Wattlebird this week!

Valentines Day is upon us and though I do adore the typical fanfare of chocolates and paper hearts, I decided to write about a more edgy, permanent show of affection... tattoos!
Nothing says 'I love you' like matching ink.  I am constantly on the search for funky, inspirational tattoos and those celebrating love are among my favorites! I adore the literary love, the nerdy love, the artsy love, the romatics, the punkrawkers...all of it.  Here are a few of my favorites...

Which is your favorite?  Whatever sweet your Valentine bestows upon you this year, I hope it's rich with love!
    <3 Julie

    Valentines for You

I really miss the days of elementary school, when Valentine's Day meant that you spent the morning handing out little paper valentines to everyone in the class. So I thought I'd celebrate that today, by posting some cheesy valentines for all of you.
