DIY Reindeer Antlers

Reindeer antlers are a popular accessories for Christmas parties (especially when the attendees have had a few drinks). I own a few pairs, of course, but I thought it would be fun to try making my own. I came up with this quick and easy tutorial.

What you need:

  • brown felt
  • elastic headband
  • cardboard
  • scissors
  • needle and brown thread
  • fabric glue

Start by tracing your basic antler shape onto the cardboard and cut it out. Use the cardboard to trace the shape onto the felt twice. Cut out the felt so that it's slightly larger than the cardboard. Begin sewing the two pieces of felt together, but only at the top. Do not sew the bottom part that will rest on your head.

Turn the felt antlers inside out so that your seams aren't visible. Cut off any excess cardboard that will not fit into the felt antlers and then place it inside. Place part of the elastic headband inside too, and then stitch or glue the bottom of the two pieces of felt together. Let it dry or cut off any excess thread and you're all done! Now you have a comfortable, cute, and handmade accessory to look silly in during all your holiday parties!
