Luna Lovegood is one of my all-time favorite Harry Potter characters. I actually have a couple more posts lined up that revolve around the flighty blonde, but this is my favorite project by far - spectrespecs!

What you need:
  • Soft foam board
  • Cellophane or translucent wrapping paper
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • A pair of old reading glasses or sunglasses
First, you can freehand the outline of one half of the glasses onto the foam board. Use your old glasses as a guide. The outline should be a circle with four "fingers" protruding from the side. The beauty of Luna is that she's so quirky it doesn't really matter if your outline is perfect or flawed.

Cut out the outline and then use it to trace another one just like it. Cut eye holes out of the inside of each.

Draw little circles or any kind of weird pattern onto the foam. I just drew circles of different sizes.

Cut circles out of the cellophane. The circles should be slightly larger than the circles cut out of the insides of the eye holes. Glue the cellophane onto the back of the foam pieces that you cut out.

After they dry, glue both of the eye pieces onto the old pair of glasses. I just put a dab of glue onto the nose and the very end pieces of the glasses.

Let them dry and use them to find those wrackspurts!
