Dugtrio Costume

I've been finding some super fantastically awesome Halloween costumes lately. I can't even wait to see more and more through the fall. Well, you know I love Pokemon, so I really enjoy this Dugrio costume (might be a display or something as well?).

I haven't been able to find the source for this photo, so if you know it, please please please let me know so I can give credit for all this awesomeness.

Cassette Tape Art

Want to see something really neat? I thought so.

These are original works of art by Erika Iris Simmons. They are made from recycled cassette tapes. Here's where I found them, along with some other pretty amazing stuff. Cool, huh?

Fun Stuff on the Horizon

It's almost fall. You know what that means? Halloween. You know what you need for Halloween? Costumes. You know who makes accessories for costumes? Me.

That's right, I'm in full work mode over here preparing for a huge Halloween shop update. I'm not just working on hats. I've already started listing some headbands (ie this and this). And I'm working on a line of noses, tails, and much much more.

In the meantime, if any of you have some great ideas for things I could make, or if you'd like to place a custom order, you can reach me at anne.pilon@gmail.com or convo me on etsy. I LOVE making new items and coming up with new ideas, so I'd really love to hear yours!

Penny Lane Style

Almost Famous is one of my absolute favorite movies, due in no small part to the beautiful Penny Lane, played by Kate Hudson. I mostly love her for her attitude, but her style is great too. It's all about over-the-top glamour with hippie accents with Miss Penny. Her clothes make a statement.

Here's my interpretation:

Have I told you lately that I love you?

Well I do! And if you love me (and by me, I mean this blog) I'd really really appreciate it if you could do me a really quick favor.

My blog was accepted to DelightfulBlogs.com the other day, and I'm looking for some more people to rate my blog. It will only take a second, and I'll cross my fingers that you choose 10 for my rating. *crosses fingers now*

In return, I'll share these adorable, optimistic, inspirational prints from a couple of my favorite blogs. Enjoy!

All of the photos link to the blog posts where they originally appeared. I especially recommend that you take a look at the positive printables from Kind Over Matter. There are a lot of really great designs there, and all of them have sweet messages.

Join the Etsy Book Club

I have some exciting news today! I am starting my very first column on the wonderful blog, The Searched and Found. I have loved this blog for awhile now, so I'm so glad to be welcomed as a new contributor.

My column is called The Etsy Book Club and it will run every Tuesday. It will showcase book-inspired Etsy finds, mostly focusing on classic literature, but with some modern widely-read books mixed in as well.

My first post is up now, and it's all about Sherlock Holmes! Go check it out now and follow the Searched and Found for all kinds of great Etsy goodness.

Fall Cowls

Fall is my absolute favorite season. One of my favorite parts of it is that you get to wear all of your favorite winter accessories, without the bitter cold and gray slush of January and February. These cowls are a perfect example of great fall accessories - and today is their grand Etsy debut!

These are made by the wonderful Chaucee of Taylor House and The Searched and Found. They are different from any of the items she's sold before, and you could be the first to own one!

Shop Local: Austin

Austin, Texas is one of my favorite places I've never been to. That might seem strange, but allow me to explain. I've known so many people who've visited the southern metropolis, and everything they say about it makes me want to visit more and more. Since my wallet is a bit thin at the moment, I figured I would take a virtual trip there instead, by way of some Etsy talent. And boy, did they did not disappoint.

This shop has some of the cutest cards and stationary I've ever seen. There are so many designs to choose from, and everything has such a clean design, with great colors and snazzy prints.

The jewelry in this shop is absolutely gorgeous. With a huge variety of colored beads and settings, there's seriously something for everyone in this shop.

"Unique wearable art" is what makes up this shop. That description could not be more accurate. Everything in the shop is inspired by nature and so original. Buy something from this shop and you're sure to have a piece that will turn a lot of heads.

Need a professional looking, sturdy, stylish bag for any occasion? This shop is the perfect spot for purses, messenger bags, and more. There are a bunch of colors, patterns and fabrics to choose from - I don't even know which I'd choose to buy first!

It's back to school season, and this shop has some of the cutest customized school supplies I have ever seen! ...not to mention the adorable jewelry and other wearable art.

This shop has some really, really eye-catching abstract art. I love the colors and the patterns and pretty much everything about them. Any of these would definitely make for a great conversation starter in any room.

And finally, this shop has the most feminine and cute clothing and accessories. All of the photos are so fun and happy, it makes me want to find any excuse to put on one of their adorable sundresses and drink mimosas in the garden.

So that's Austin! I'm not sure where I'm headed for next month's Shop Local post. Where do you think I should visit next?

Testing the Waters

I keep hearing about people in New York, Chicago and other awesome cities having blogger meetups where they get together with other bloggers to chat IRL (sorry - can't help it). I really want to go to one, but I can't seem to find anything like this in Metro Detroit. I know most of you who read this blog are from other parts of the world, but I'd just like to see if there might be anyone who lives in Michigan/Northern Ohio/Possibly NE Indy who would be interested in attending a blogger meetup if I organized it.

I'd really like to do this, but I want to make sure there would be a bit of interest before I did. It wouldn't have to be just bloggers, but Twitter and other social networking people would also be welcome, or even anyone interested in starting a blog. If you are interested, either leave a comment here with your email address or email me at anne.pilon@gmail.com. If there is a fair amount of interest then I'll probably create a group of some sort and keep everyone in the loop as I plan.

Modern Disney Fashion

I did a post a couple of weeks ago for character style about the fashion of Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin. A few people commented that I should do that for all of the Disney princesses, and I think that's a great idea! Though I'd still like to do a formal post for some of the individual characters, I found these great illustrations from deviantart user lololalah that I think does the trick as well.

Mulan is definitely my favorite out of these, but I think she captured all of them perfectly! Which one is your favorite?

Laney Boggs Style

Growing up, one of my absolute all-time favorite movies was (well, it is still a favorite when I'm feeling nostalgic) She's All That. If you're a child of the 90's, I know you agree with me. I loved Laney - I even used to paint my shoes and my jeans to try to emulate her style.

So today, I'm honoring Laney Boggs by showcasing her eclectic style. I've morphed it a bit - slightly less 90's and slightly less (a.k.a. none) paint on clothes. But it's still got a bit of an "I don't really care" vibe, some clashing patterns that somehow still work, and lots of layers.

It's my 200th post!

So, yesterday I realized that my blog was at 199 blog posts. Woohoo almost at 200 - I have to do something really awesome like a giveaway or other really exciting thing! Well, my boyfriend currently has my camera in Turkey, and I have no giveaway items photographed, so for the next few days I'm pretty much stuck with the status quo, pre-planned posts. (sorry :-/ )

But I did want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who reads this blog, subscribes, comments, and submits. You're seriously awesome. I've only had this blog going for about six months, but I love doing it so much.

I promise I'll have a new giveaway up next week, and I have a lot of exciting things coming up this fall. So stay tuned! For now, enjoy this Thank You card I made just for you.

Weekly Pinboard

Those are my inspiring images for the week. What has you inspired right now?

New HP Photos!

Yesterday, Warner Brothers released some new stills from the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie. I'm obviously freaking out. Here's my favorite.

And here are some more.

To my fellow HP fans, what part of the movie are you most excited for?
